What is Battle of the Books:
Battle of the Books is hosted by the Pikes Peak Library District and is a reading competition for 5th-grade students. Students read a list of 40 books and come together, usually in groups, to demonstrate their abilities and to test their knowledge of the books they have read. The competitions are usually similar to the TV series Family Feud or Whiz Kids styles of competitions. Each team competes in three rounds.
Mission Statement of the Pikes Peak Battle of the Books: The Mission of the Pikes Peak Region Battle of the Books is to foster a love of reading by encouraging students to read challenging, quality literature written by a variety of authors in multiple genres.
