JUMP ROPE for HEART Activities in PE on Thursday during grade level Specials! See note below.

  Physical Education with Mrs. Marr

The purpose of elementary physical education is to get kids skillfully moving and playing in an exciting, safe and fun environment.

The foundation for a lifetime of physical activity can begin in the elementary years as kids start to explore and participate in a variety of sports and activities.

During P.E. classes students need to have as much contact, practice and movement with their own piece of equipment.  Physical Education focusses on age apporopriate skill development and incorporating these skills into lead-up games for sports application in the intermediate grades.

In P.E. students will learn a wide variety of manipulative skills skills (throwing, catching, kicking, striking trapping and volleying), locomotor movements, games, fitness activities/concepts,  dancing, jump rope, geocaching individual and team sports games and concepts.

Student Expectations

Students should come to class ready to learn and participate.  This includes readiness to listen, follow directions and a committment to moving safely.  The expectation is for students to work hard, and give their best effort while learning and playing in P.E. I promote the "I Can" attitude.

 SHOES         Lights Web.jpg

Students need to wear an appropriate "athletic type" of shoe on their scheduled P.E. day for safe movement.  A shoe that covers their toes and heels, stays on securely, laces or velcros and is designed for physical activity-a tennis shoe.

No crocs, sandals, high heels, slip-ons, loose and floppy snow boots, cowboy boots or slippers.

Athletic shoes are for safety and performance.  Each class period that all students are wearing correct shoes their class  will advance up the trail in the gym.  When a class "summits" the class will be recognized with a class photo and the honor of displaying the trophy in their classroom.
